Moedim
A moed (the singular form of moedim) is an appointment, a fixed time or season. In Vayikra (Leviticus) 23 G-d sets eight (8) moedim for us to keep on a regular basis. Eight different types of meetings that He wants to have with us, some are annual events, one of them is a weekly occurrence; some last just a day, others a week, and still others for a season. Each is unique in the blessing that it brings and lessons that it teaches.
Each moed has its traditions, those straight from scripture and those added by man, these traditions blend to give us a rich heritage and to help us understand and see the true basis for each and every moed…the Messiah. Each moed, each appointed time set forth by G-d teaches us about the Messiah, understanding and practicing each, at your own pace and within your own time, will help broaden your understanding of your Messiah and enrich your life.
G-d begins by asking us to keep the Sabbath, our weekly meeting, our time to catch-up and check-in, to pause and reflect on the week we have just completed and rejoice in the potential of the week to come. Our time to relax and rejuvenate in His presence and enjoy our family and friends, our time to reflect on all that He is and all that He does each and every day for each and every one of us. He then progresses through Pesach (Passover), Yom HaBikurim (First Fruits), The Feast of Weeks, the Counting of the Omer and Shavuot, Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, and Succot.
Here you will find resources and recipes, information and study materials, suggestions and stories, in short, everything you need to get started. We will examine and explore each of these moedim in detail, we will provide suggestions for experiencing each more fully, and ask for you to share your traditions and remembrances with us all. Remember, these are your appointments with G-d, times that He has set aside to be with you, bask in His glory and enjoy!
